A small guide to local drafts
How to keep work safe when your notebook lives in a browser.

Your browser is your workspace
Paperloom’s studio renders your text and page in your browser. Its local draft feature stores work on the current browser and device. Signing in to the site does not automatically turn local drafts into a cloud notebook.
Know what can remove a draft
Clearing site data, resetting a browser profile or using a private browsing window can remove saved work. A different browser on the same computer has its own separate storage. Local storage is useful for convenience, but it should not be your only copy of important writing.
Keep two kinds of backup
Save a plain-text copy so you can edit the words later. Export a PNG for the finished appearance. If you use a local font, keep that file too, so you can reproduce the same page on another device.
- Before clearing browser data, export important pages.
- Keep the original words in a document you control.
- On shared computers, remove drafts when you finish.
